  • Retaliation occurs when your employer punishes you for exercising your labor rights. Retaliation is illegal. As a worker in California, you are protected against retaliation, regardless of your immigration status.

Paid Sick Leave

  • If you are denied leave, you can file a wage claim with the Labor Commissioner’s Office. More paid sick leave for workers starting January 2024. Workers can earn 40 hours or 5 days (whichever is more) of paid sick leave per year.
